What to Expect

With our The Cowboy Way package, lose yourself in the mysteries and magic of our cloud-forest at Monteverde on horseback and experience the adventures at Rincon de la Vieja, such as tubing, canopy, rappelling and jumping from a waterfall . Explore the sights and sounds of the volcano Rincon de la Vieja and then discover one of the most famous beaches of Costa Rica, Tamarindo Beach. Just think about it: excitement, love and a truly gay cowboy adventure!

Continue to the turquoise coast where you’ll board a catamaran, lounge in the sun and swim in the warm tropical water while, with good luck, spotting dolphin, rays or reef fish.

Brief Itinerary

Ten-day tour visiting the magic Monteverde and Rincón de La Vieja areas, as well as the stunning beaches at Tamarindo.

The Cowboy Way was specially designed for those who love horseback-riding. “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

Day 1

Arrival to Costa Rica

Meet and greet at the Juan Santa Maria or Daniel Oduber International Airports where your private driver will be waiting to transport you to your hotel and bring you your travel packet.

Day 2

San José – Monteverde

After breakfast, your private transportation will pick up at your hotel to head northwest to Monteverde area (approximately four hours driving). After you check in at your hotel, get ready to visit Selvatura Adventure Park, where you will walk the treetops. You will experience a vision of the forest from different perspectives, starting with a walk on the ground and then taking you to explore the treetops, a hardly discovered habitat, called the “canopy,” with a nature guide.

Day 3

Monteverde – Horseback Riding

After breakfast, you will enjoy a fantastic tour, a horse-lover’s dream and truly wonderful Costa Rican experience! Get a feel for what it’s like to be a Costa Rica cowboy by starting off helping to prepare your horse and learn how to saddle. Your Costa Rican cowboy will explain to you the type of equipment we use in Costa Rica and other details about horse care.

Of course, your day wouldn’t be complete without stopping at a local bar for a quick beer or soft drink and take in the local flavor – definitely off the beaten tourist path. Upon return to the stable, you can help bathe and feed your horse and thank him for an authentic Costa Rican experience!

Day 4

Monteverde – Rincon de la Vieja

After check-out, a private transfer to Rincón de la Vieja, wit a drive-time of approximately four hours. This National Park is Costa Rica’s mini-Yellowstone, with steaming volcanic hot springs and boiling, bubbling mud ponds, with a dry forest as your background. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 5

Rincón de la Vieja – One day Adventure Pass

Fill your day at Rincón de la Vieja with adventure and enjoy Costa Rica’s pure nature. Go at your own pace and do your favorite adventures like Canyon Canopy Tour, Rio Negro Tubing Adventure, Horseback Rides which you’ll choose one of their many different locations. Or just enjoy a volcanic mud-bath and thermal hot springs at Rio Negro

Note: Tours in the National Park do not include the admission fee ($10/person). Please note that the National Park is closed on Mondays. The Waterfalls Canyoning Tour may be included in the One Day Adventure Pass for an extra charge of $20 per person.

Day 6

Rincon de la Vieja – Tamarindo

Today you will visit the Tamarindo area, after about a two and a half-hour drive. Tamarindo is one of the top beach destinations in Costa Rica, with a three-kilometer stretch of white sand, warm blue water, exquisite nature and amazing sunsets. Rest of the day at your leisure.

Tamarindo Beach – Sailing Tour

08:00 – The tour allows time for a little bit of everything. You will be able to enjoy the exhilarating performance of a catamaran, lounge in the sun, use our kayaks, and swim in the warm tropical water while spotting dolphin, rays and reef fish. Our friendly, professional crew will ensure your comfort and safety during this spectacular journey along the Costa Rican coast, for a trip you’ll be sure to remember.

Tamarindo Beach

Day at your leisure! At Tamarindo, the land activities are plenty and range from visiting nearby Costa Rican beaches, renting a bike and exploring the town, kayaking or even discovering Guanacaste from the air in a Gyro.

People in Tamarindo like to have fun, and that is certainly reflected in its vibrant nightlife. There is always something going on after the sun has set.

Day 9

Tamarindo – San José

Morning at your leisure. Ground transfer to San José. Approximate driving time is five hours. Check in at your city hotel.

San José – Private Transfer out
