Day 3
Puerto Viejo Beach
During the day, you can enjoy the beach or rent a bike and discover the town of Puerto Viejo. At noon, learn to prepare delicious rice and beans, a typical Caribbean dish, and learn about the culture and the language. Be prepared for an experience filled with the warmth and flavors of the Caribbean. Share this time with an expert cook from Puerto Viejo, who will invite you to try your hand at cooking authentic dishes. This gives you the opportunity to spend time in a typical Afro-Caribbean kitchen and a little bit about life here. Eating to live, living to eat. Food is culture. Practice their dialect (Mek-i-tell-yu) or their local Spanish and learn their cooking secrets so you can take home a part of the Caribbean flavors and experience. The Talamanca cuisine is different from that of the rest of the country.
Using typical fruits and vegetables from the Caribbean, learn to cook traditional Caribbean dishes: patacones (fried bananas), rice and beans, fruit juices, fish or chicken in Caribbean sauce, and more! Finish your class by tasting the food you prepared. You can chose between chicken, fish or vegetables.

This is, without a doubt, one of the most incredible places in Costa Rica. The brilliant turquoise blue waters along with all the natural surrounding scenery make Rio Celeste a place to fall in love with.
A circuit trail of seven kilometers will take you through the forest to different interesting places, including the spectacular Rio Celeste Waterfall, the blue lagoon (a stretch of the calm river that makes a beautiful natural lagoon), and the observation deck of the Tenorio Volcano, which offers breathtaking views of the volcano and the surrounding mountains. Next come two more attractions: “Las Ollas” which are fumaroles filled with boiling mud and the “Teñideros” or Dyers, which is the place where the river obtains its unique color due to a natural chemical reaction.
