Day 2
San José – Poas Volcano, Doka State coffee tour & La Paz Waterfall Garden
Enjoy three top destinations in one day.
On the way to the volcano, you will visit the Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast. Then you will be treated to a coffee tour in an actual coffee plantation, where you’ll learn the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce some of the best coffee in Costa Rica. After the coffee tour, you will continue to the Poás Volcano, where you can admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles and learn about the different ecosystems in this unique and protected national park.
Following the visit to the volcano, you will continue to the La Paz Water Fall Garden for a scrumptious lunch and tour. As you walk through La Paz, you will walk through a trail that leads to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park, we will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the birdhouse, the butterfly garden, and the frog exhibition.

Day 3
San José – Arenal
After breakfast, on to Arenal!
Arenal is an area of stunning scenery, waterfalls, forest, and lake, but the star attraction is Arenal Volcano. This perfectly conical volcano is currently entering a quiet phase with little volcanic activity, but its huge geological feature has a very imposing presence and offers wonderful walking trails through the tropical forest which cloaks its base. Its geothermal activity also warms the hot springs that can soothe many an aching joint.
As a center for adventure sports, Arenal offers whitewater rafting, zip-lining, canopy walkways, horseback-riding, canyoning, mountain biking, windsurfing and challenging hikes, all which can be enjoyed in the middle of breathtaking scenery.

Day 4
Arenal – Volcano guided visit or Balsa River rafting tour
Today, you can choose from a guided visit to the National Park Arenal or, for the more adventurous, a whitewater rafting tour.
The Arenal Volcano National Park hike is one of the most popular tours in La Fortuna! Get as close as possible to the volcano while hiking through well-maintained paths that weave through the lush Costa Rican rainforest. Your nature guide will point out exotic plants and wildlife and explain the history of this fascinating volcano and area of Costa Rica. This is a must-see for nature lovers and bird watchers!

Day 5
Arenal – Monteverde
Pick-up at your hotel in La Fortuna for a 30-minute van-ride to the Arenal Lake Dam. There you will board a very comfortable and safe pontoon boat for a 30 to 40-minute ride to Río Chiquito, a little town on the other side of the lake. Once in Río Chiquito, you’ll leave the boat and take a short break to stretch your legs and then take another hour and a half van ride to get to your hotel in the Monteverde area. Rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 6
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve Guided Tour
Hike the charmed Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve guided by a set of expert eyes. You will hike several trails in search of birds and mammals and discover the amazing diversity of plants.
The tour is basically a natural history walk in which you will obtain information about the unbelievable diversity of flora and fauna and many of the exceptional relationships that cloud forest species have with each other. This walk normally takes about three hours.
Guides are equipped with a spotting telescope as well as binoculars and several informational guidebooks. Be sure to bring your cameras, as you can take pictures through the guide’s scope.

Morning at leisure. The afternoon tour is a truly amazing trip for nature-lovers who will enjoy not only the experience itself but the breathtaking sunset of the Pacific Ocean. Humpback whales and dolphins, as well as other beautiful marine life, can be witnessed on our catamaran tour. Onboard we offer an excellent variety of snacks and natural drinks. Manuel Antonio National Park
Watch sloths and numerous species of monkeys travel through the tree canopy, hunting for nocturnal silky anteaters and several types of monkeys or iguanas, and resting in the tropical rain forest. Listen to the songs of the various birds as they glide above your group, curiously looking for adventure. And, if you are lucky, you might spot one of the only 1,000 remaining endangered Mono Titi or squirrel monkeys, who live in only one location in the world –in our Manuel Antonio National Park.
See how many different kinds of flora and fauna you can spot just in the span of a 2 ½ hour nature walk or hike. And, at the end, enjoy some local fresh fruits and refreshments as you pause to savor your adventure thus far. If you like, you can continue on through the trails and enjoy unspoiled, pristine beaches after your guided educational adventure ends. You might even try snorkeling after the hike on your own.
