Cahuita Snorkeling and Rainforest Hike

Parque Nacional Cahuita has the largest system of coral reefs in Costa Rica, including six species of coral, a wide range of colorful tropical fish and the occasional harmless reef shark or sting ray. This beach has a horse-shoe shape, with the entrance of the park at one end and beautiful Punta Cahuita at the other.

You will start with a scenic 20-minute boat ride to bring you to your two  snorkeling sessions. Then you’ll go to the Punta to enjoy a delicious fruit and snack break at the beach followed by a one hour guided hike in this wonderful coastal forest. Sitings of monkeys, sloths, birds, poison dart frogs, iguanas and other interesting creatures are common.

Itinerary

7:00 am – Pick-up time depending on location, starting in Manzanillo.
7:30 am – Drive to Cahuita with interesting information en route.
8:00 am – Arrival at the park entrance and safety briefing.
8:30 am – Snorkeling in two locations.
9:30 am – Fruit and snacks break at Punta Cahuita and proceed to hike.
11:00 am – Arrive back to the van, take a small break and drive back.
12:00 pm – Arrive in time to shower before lunch on your own.

Punta Uva Sea Kayak and Rainforest Hike

This tour begins with a drive to the southern end of the road into the most remote location in the area. The kayaking route consists of a loop, where you will paddle in and hike out. After a safety briefing, you will embark in a magical kayaking journey along a coast full of cliffs, caves, and the most amazing rainforest.

You will take a nice break at the beach to relax, swim and enjoy some fresh fruit and snacks before hiking back to Punta Uva. Along the way, you will learn a lot about the eco-system of this wildlife refuge.

One Day Yorkin Indigene Reserve

The Yorkin tour will lead us to the indigenous Bribri territory located in the tropical rainforest of Talamanca. This is an incomparable opportunity to experience this culture.

The tour starts in Bambu, next to the convenience store and the police station. The local guide will be waiting for you to get on an indigene canoe sailed by local experts who will take you on the Yorkin river, the natural border between Costa Rica and Panama, from which you can admire the lush vegetation.

After about one hour, when you arrive at Yorkin, you will walk around the village and see organic plantains and cocoa plantations before proceeding to the Stibrawpa Rural Lodge. Once there, you will have a delicious snack and visit the Skui river and the suspension bridge, where it is possible to swim in natural pools.

Then, you will be treated to a bribri-style lunch, followed by a chat about the organization’s history. For dessert, you will be taught to produce chocolate and taste organic plantains dipped into freshly-made chocolate sauce.

After this unique experience, you will return to Bambu by canoe.
