Venado Caves Underground Tour

Here you will go deep into the earth, where underground trails will lead you through grottos and chambers, where you can explore a world indifferent to light.

With flashlights and all the  gear you’ll need for the adventure, you will enter into a labyrinth of prehistoric underground rivers and sea-beds, which were uncovered after thousands of millions of years. You will visit rock formations with names like “the birthing canal”, “the papaya”, “the coral”, and “the altar”. Rock formations called stalactites and stalagmites are common inside the caves, some hanging from the rocks overhead and others rising up from the ground. A large colony of bats inhabits the caves, as do spiders and crabs.

Arenal Volcano Hike & Hotsprings

On this hike along the trails of Arenal National Park, you will enter into the tropical forest and areas which were once devastated by the fury of the volcano. During the hike, you can see the area’s characteristic flora and fauna, as well as sites of interest such as the impact craters and sites of the lava slides of 1992 (a large accumulation of solidified volcanic material ejected from the crater of this mighty colossus, during that year). On clear days, you will enjoy incredible views of the impressive Arenal Volcano, Arenal Lake, the Tilarán mountain range, and Cerro Chato.

Our nature guide will provide you with important and interesting information about the volcano, which has been active since 1968, and many more details about all that you will encounter along the trail.

As an alternative, you can purchase an entrance ticket with us to any of the different hot springs, according to your preference. We will drop you off there after the tour, so you can relax, and we will pick you up a couple of hours later to take you back to your hotel.

The Rio Balsa is the ideal rafting tour for first-timers, nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and people who are simply looking for a fun adventure in Costa Rica!

A friendly (and handsome) expert river guide will come by your hotel to pick you up. He will check to make sure you have appropriate shoes and clothes that can get wet and that you have a day-bag to bring along a change of clothes for after the tour. After you are picked up from your hotel, you’ll be driven through the green, lush Costa Rican countryside to the private operations center right next to the river.

You will be fitted with our top-quality rafting gear such as an NRS helmet, lifejacket and paddle. Your expert guide will provide paddling and safety directions to prepare you for your journey!

Then you will challenge yourself as you paddle down over 10 kilometers of constant, thrilling rapids with names like “Congo Loco” and “Rock around the Croc!” As you descend down this stunning class 2-3 river, you’ll have a chance to admire the lush foliage, vines, and different types of insects, birds and animals

Rappelling

Lost Canyon Adventures Canyoneerin

Today after a enjoyable, 25-minute ride in your Jungle Limo, you’ll arrive at the Lost Canyon Operations Center and be greeted by your guides. You will get suited up with high-quality canyoneering gear such as an Edelrid helmet and Sit Work harness. Have Fun!

After your Canyoneering 101 crash course, complete with safety directions a practice session, you’ll head to the initial point of the Lost Canyon. Start off the rappelling-leg of your canyoning trip with the first waterfall referred to as the “Baby” — a small-sized 10-ft waterfall that allows you to practice and ease your way into learning the ropes.

You will then hike deep into the rocky land of the wet and untamed rainforest, bordered by huge rocks, trees and graceful streams. You’ll soon reach what we call the “Big Boy” — the second largest waterfall. You’ll start off by rappelling down the rock face and about half way through you’ll hear “LET GO!” – a few moments later you’ll have practiced your first guided, adrenaline-fueled free fall!

Canyoneering in the Lost Canyon of Costa Rica is more than just rappelling — it’s a full work-out! Use your arms, legs, and hands to climb through waterfalls. You’ll be jumping into pools, sliding down a natural water slide, sitting under cascades, pulling yourself up some rocks and helping yourself down others. This is when you will realize that this really is an experience of a lifetime!

As you make your way through the four rappels, you’ll notice your strength and confidence keeps growing. You will finish your adventure with a 200 ft waterfall drop — rappelling part of the way and then letting go of the wheels to experience another guided free-fall drop!

As you hike back up the rainforest canyon, you’ll be allowed to take your time and enjoy the peacefulness of the Costa Rica rainforest. It normally takes about 10 minutes, but many people take longer, stopping every so often to be immersed in this unique experience.

At the top, change into your dry clothes and head up to the Canyon Café where there will be a well-deserved homemade lunch waiting for you!
