It is located at the foot of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, near the town of Curubande, in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

The Hacienda borders on the popular Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Since 1985, Hacienda Guachipelin has also had hosted a steady flow of visitors and helped them enjoy the natural beauty of the ranch and the neighboring national park.

With volcanic activity as in no other volcano in Costa Rica, this hotel offers natural hot springs, virgin forests, jungle waterfalls, volcanic mud-pots and other attractions during a stay at the Hacienda.

Together with its strong involvement in ecotourism, Hacienda Guachipelin continues its traditional work of raising cattle and horses. For the adventurer, there are many activities in the lodge like horseback-riding, the Canyon canopy tour, Rio Negro Tubing Adventure, bird-watching, and a trek to the active craters of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.

Hacienda Guachipelin is a down-to-earth, yet comfortable hotel with 52 rooms, all with their private bathrooms and hot water.

From your room, you can enjoy, during the day, the views of the volcano and the hacienda, and, at night, the real sounds of nature.

Our Opinion

Haciënda Guachipelin, at the enterance of the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, is a very good location for all kinds of activities, such as walking, horseback-riding, hot springs, etc.

The hotel is completely surrounded by nature and has a swimming pool, a good restaurant and nice cabins in a garden setting.

Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Superior rooms are set in a horseshoe-shaped construction around the property’s ancient and impressive Tempisque and Cedro Amargo trees

These rooms have two double beds or one double and one single bed but are larger than the standard rooms.

Superior rooms feature private bathrooms with hot water heated by solar panels, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, cable TV and a safe deposit box.

Suites

Suites are located in the hotel’s newer buildings with excellent views of the area.

These rooms have two double beds or one double and one single bed but are larger than the standard rooms.

Legacy Suites

Legacy Suites are placed away from all the guest rooms and activities. These suites were built to offer a quieter, private, and comfortable accommodation.

Adventure Center

Hotel guests and day visitors can enjoy more than 20 adventure and nature tours offered at the Adventure Center. Get your adrenaline pumping on the river tubing adventure, the trilling waterfall rappelling and cannoning tour; experience the mountain bike, and the horseback riding. Besides there’s nothing like the canopy tour, where you can fly through the trees on zip lines, rock climb, rappel, swing like Tarzan and cross hanging bridges over a river canyon.

The tour are optional, you can choose your favorite one or just enjoy the nature around.
