Our gay Costa Rica highlights tour is the perfect mix of nature and relaxation. You will have the opportunity to enjoy superior accommodations in the middle of lush tropical forest; in the slopes of a colossus volcano, surrounded by thermal hot springs, and in green grounds bounded by a mysterious cloud forest. Wake up every day for the sounds of nature, sail around ancient canals, walk over lava fields, and perceive the forest from the heights.

Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica

Overnight in San José in selected hotel.

Transfer from the Airport to the hotel will be on your own. Optional transfer in service for US$ 50.00 (1-2 pax.)

Day 2: Tortuguero and the ancient canals

Early in the morning you will meet to your guide and the rest of the group, and depart to Tortuguero area. On the way, you will pass through the Braulio Carrillo National Park, a flora and fauna sanctuary covered by an emerald-green mass of vegetation. Besides, you will have the chance to see from the comfort of the bus, open pasture lands, small farming towns, and will also notice a change in the climate, as it becomes a bit warmer and humid but very pleasant. After breakfast on the way, the journey will continue to the dock area deeper into our Caribbean side, where the boats are waiting to transfer you to selected lodge. A two-hour boat ride, will take you through the canals sheltered in the jungle of the rain forest. From the boat, you will be able to admire the unique flora and fauna of this area. On the way to the lodge, your guide will enlighten you about biodiversity of the area and you will have the chance to see different birds. Upon arrival, there will be a short briefing of the Lodge and the activities included during your stay, followed by lunch. In the afternoon, you will visit the village of Tortuguero where you will learn the lifestyle of residents and the significant conservation efforts that some NGOs have developed to protect the sea turtles that come to spawn each year along the 22 miles of the protected coastline.

Day 3: Tortuguero National Park

Tortuguero is a great place for ecotourism lovers. During this day and depending on the weather conditions, you can enjoy a guided hike through the jungle where you will learn how the different animals, insects and birds interact with forest plants, thus achieving a perfect balance of each species, or you can explore the secondary canals of this paradisiacal place, where you can see different species of mammals, birds and reptiles. Tortuguero offers a full contact with Mother Nature. Much of the National Park extends along its unspoiled beaches that serve as refuge for spawning of the sea turtles, this event occurs between the months of July to September.

Day 4: Heading to the Volcano

At mid morning the journey continues with a boat transfer back to the local dock. Upon arrival, ground transportation will be provided to the area of Guapiles, where lunch will be served. Afterwards, continue on our own transfer towards the northern lowlands, this route offers the experience to pass through different towns such as Puerto Viejo (Sarapiqui), San Miguel, Venecia and Aguas Zarcas, your guide will share with you their history and pecularities. Also, along the way you will enjoy the beautiful scenery which includes amazing views of the mountains and one of the major sources of revenue in the area: the agriculture, so you will have the opportunity according with the season to observe the crops of pineapple, bananas and sugar cane. Arrive to La Fortuna Village late afternoon where the mighty Arenal Volcano will welcome you with its impressive perfect conic shape.

Day 5: Arenal Volcano Hike

Discover the sights and sounds in the Arenal Volcano area. Here you will have, escorted by your guide, a first-hand experience of Costa Rica’s most famed attraction. This adventure takes place on the trails of the Arenal Volcano National Park. Informative tour guides will lead you on along a 3-mile (5-km) trail that winds through secondary rain forest and leads to places to observe the volcano. Along the way, you’ll observe a variety of plants, animals, and volcanic rock formations; you’ll also enjoy views of Lake Arenal.

During this walk, you’ll walk across three trails – Las Coladas, El Ceibo, and Lava 1992. Appropriately, you’ll see old lava flows and massive Ceibo trees. From viewing monkeys and toucans to photographing the picture-perfect volcano, you will be fully engaged as you enjoy your visit in the Arenal Volcano area.

Day 6: Monteverde and the cloud Forest

Morning depart from Arenal Volcano to the Monteverde Cloud Forest through the Tilaran Mountain Range. The final portion of your journey is on gravel roads, giving you more time to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery.

Rest of the day at your leisure. Your guide can assist you choosing an optional activy, such as a coffee tour, horseback riding, or a night walk.

Day 7: Hanging Bridges Tour

The Tree Top walkway is the ideal cloud forest experience for those who wish to explore the beauty of the canopy at their own pace. The walkway consists of 8 suspension bridges connected by trails covering 1.9 miles (3km). The bridges vary from 150ft (50m) to 500ft (170m) in length and are suspended at heights ranging from 36ft (12m) to 180ft (60m). At almost 5ft (1.5m) wide, the bridge system is the widest and sturdiest in Costa Rica.

Day 8: Return to San José or sign up to one of our trip extensions

Morning will be at leisure. In the afternoon, it’s programmed the transfer back to San Jose or continue to an extension of your trip visiting an awesome beach, the best way to end your Costa Rica Journey. Check-in and overnight at San Jose City selected hotel.

Saturday night in San José is a good chance to discover the wide range of night life that the city can offer.

Bochinche, Venue, La Avispa, Bar el 13 are where locals and visitors meet.
