Brief Itinerary

Twelve days of romance visiting the most idyllic beaches and volcanoes, visit the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, locals here are some of the most relaxed, gentle, and open-minded people in the world. They embrace any opportunity to share their culture and heritage with visitors, as well as the astonishing beauty and tranquility of their beaches.


Day 1

Greet & meet at the Juan Santa Maria International airport where your private driver will be waiting to transport you to your hotel and bring you your kit travel.

Day 2

San José – Puerto Viejo Beach

Today after breakfast, your car rental representative will deliver the car to your hotel in San José, be sure to take your license and a valid credit card. Self drive to Puerto Viejo, Caribbean Coast where the music and good vibes predominate.

Day 3

Puerto Viejo Beach

During the day you can enjoy the beach or rent a bike and discover Puerto Viejo town. At noon learn to prepare delicious Rice and Beans, typical Caribbean dish, and learn about this culture and language. Be prepared to live an experience filled with the warmth and flavors of the Caribbean’s. Share this time with an expert cook from Puerto Viejo, who will invite you to try cooking yourself. Maybe these won’t be professional culinary instructions, but they will have a local touch! It is an opportunity for you to spend time in a typical Afro-Caribbean kitchen, and a opportunity to learn about life itself. Eating to live, living to eat. Food is culture. Practice their dialect (Mek-i-tell-yu) or their local Spanish and learn their cooking secrets to go home with a part of the Caribbean flavors with you. It is more than just a recipe, it is a real experience! The Talamanca cuisine is different from the rest of the country.

Using typical fruits and vegetables from the Caribbean’s, learn to cook traditional Caribbean dishes; patacones (fried bananas), rice and beans, fruit juices, fish or chicken in Caribbean sauce, and more! Finish your class tasting the food you prepared. You can chose between chicken, fish or veggie.

Day 4

Puerto Viejo Beach

Day at leisure. Optional tour: Snorkeling at Cahuita National Park, Punta Uva kayaking tour, Jaguar Rescue Center, visit other beaches nearby or Visit to the Manzanillo & Gandoca Reserve.

Day 5

Puerto Viejo Beach to Arenal Volcano

Today after the check out is time to drive to your next destination, Arenal Volcano. You will drive through pineapple plantations and colorful landscapes, take a chance to take cool pictures!

Day 6

Hike to Rio Celeste or Rafting tour

This is one of the most incredible places of Costa Rica, without a doubt. The brilliant turquoise blue waters together with all the natural scenery that surrounds them make of Rio Celeste a place to fall in love with.

A circuit trail of 7 kilometers will take you through the forest, to different interesting places, starting with the spectacular Rio Celeste Waterfall, the blue lagoon, a stretch of the calm river that makes a beautiful natural lagoon, followed by the observation deck of the Tenorio Volcano, which offers nice views of the volcano and the surrounding mountains. Next come two more attractions: “Las Ollas” which are fumaroles filled with boiling mud and finally the “Teñideros” or Dyers, which is the place where the river obtains its unique color due to a natural chemical reaction.

Note: For the most adventurers, we have the Rafting at Pacuare or Sarapiquí River tour instead of the hiking

Day 7

Drive from Arenal to Rio Perdido, Bagaces

Today after the checkout. Selfdrive to our dry forest and live an unique experience. Your hotel site is just north of the amazing convergence point. This means that two deep canyons flank it. One is a completely vertical gorge carrying cool waters with a peculiar white tint and the other is the thermo-mineral Rio Perdido where you surely will relax and find yourself. It’s a completely natural and inspiring setting, unlike any other place on the planet

Day 8

Rio Perdido, Bagaces

Full day at leisure in Río Perdido. Take a short walk from your bungalow and in minutes, you may spot some species of mammals, insects, reptiles and amphibians. Adventure seekers can jump on a bike and access miles of world-class trails or zip through the amazing White Canyon on a carbon fiber line. We also recommend the rural tours in the area.

Today after the check out, drive to the North Pacific Coast, on your way you can visit the beautiful Waterfall Cortez where you can take amazing pictures. Your hotel is located on Playa Tamarindo, ideally situated on a hill overlooking the gold coast and the Pacific Ocean.
