Day 1

Greet & meet at the International Airport. Transfer to your city Hotel.

Day 2

Poas Volcano, Doka State coffee tour & La Paz Waterfall Garden. Full 1 day tour

7:30 – Pick up at your hotel

Enjoy 3 top destinations in 1 day.

On the way to the volcano we will visit the Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast. Then we will be treated to a coffee tour in an actual coffee plantation where we will learn the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce some of the best coffee in Costa Rica. After the coffee tour we will continue to the Poás Volcano where we will not only admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, but also learn about the different ecosystems in this unique and protected national park.

Following the visit to the volcano we will continue to the La Paz Water Fall Garden for a scrumptious lunch and tour. As we arrive to La Paz, we will walk through a trail, leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park we will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and frog exhibition.

Day 3

Arenal area, Volcano Walk & Hot Springs

8:00 – Pick up at your hotel.
Heading north from San José in the way to La Fortuna area. Approximately 3 and half hours driving.

Arenal Volcano Hike

15:00 – The tour begins with a 15 minute-trip to the far west side of Arenal Volcano.This is the best way to look at the volcano lava flowing from a safe point and the best panoramic view of the volcano! Then you will submerge in a primary Tropical rain forest, where you will spend about 1 ½ hour exploring the Silencio Trail, which is located in a private primary forest, facing the majestic Arenal Volcano. Our certified bilingual naturalist guide will point-out indigenous rain forest plants and tell you about their medicinal properties.

At dark, after visiting the trail, we will continue to the observation point, which offers the closest and most direct lava flow vista. Relax; enjoy a drink and listen to the incredible sounds of the volcano. If the cloud cover is high enough, expect to see a dazzling. Listen to a variety of frogs, toucans, and insects and watch thousands of fireflies.

18:00 – Visit to Ecotermales Hot Springs and dinner.
20:00 – Return to your hotel.

Day 4

Arenal one day Adventure. Kayaking at Lake Arenal & Canyon Rappeling

8:00 – Depart from La Fortuna to enjoy a pleasant morning of kayaking on Lake Arenal and breath taking views of the Arenal Volcano. On your trip you may observe different species of birds like the “Flycatcher”, “Kingfisher”, “Great Blue Heron” and “Aninga” and may also possibly hear the Howler monkeys!

12:00 – Lunch.

13:00 – The tour begins with a 30-min 4×4 ride into the rainforest surrounding La Fortuna.Stay on the lookout for monkeys, sloths, parrots and other creatures as you make your way toward the waterfalls. Once here, your guides will fit you with canyoning equipment and explain the proper way to descend the falls. When you’re comfortable with the procedure, you’ll begin rappelling down the first waterfall, whose base leads into a pristine canyon. From here on out, there are three more waterfalls to rapell down and one rock face. Once finished, your guides will help you back to the vehicles and you’ll head to the base camp.

Day 5

Monteverde Area

7:30 – Pick up at your hotel in La Fortuna for a 30 minutes microbus drive to the Arenal Lake Dam. There we will aboard into a very comfortable and safe pontoon boat for a 30 to 40 minutes (aprox). ride to Río Chiquito, a little town at the other side of the lake. Once at Río Chiquito, we’ll leave the boat and make a short break to strength the legs, then, another 1 1 / 2 hour microbus ride to get to the hotels in the Monteverde area, sometimes during the rainy season this transfer could take longer.

11:30 – Check in at your Hotel

Monteverde Cloud Forest Train

13:00 – Enjoy a tour by train inside the cloud forests of Monteverde.

The tour is about 90 minutes plus transport time from you hotel (so total about 2.5 hours) and starts with a 30 minute train ride along beautiful open areas, secondary and primary forest. You will ride through a tunnel and over rail bridges that take you across the mountains, from former cattle ranch to cloud forest. The naturalist guide will explain everything you see along the way, including unique Costa Rican flora and fauna, as well as the history of the property.

Then you’ll stop for a hot beverage with cookies, at a great look out, where in clear days there is a panorama view of Arenal Volcano, Lake Arenal. the extinct volcano Cerro Chatro and the San Gerardo Waterfall. . During this stop there’s an optional 20 minute hike along a forest trail with the guide. It’s an easy short walk but with natural trails, so during the rainy season it could get a little muddy. Or you can stay at the viewing platform, and enjoy the views.

Day 6

Optional Tour: Bat Jungle Night Tour – Sky Trek & Sky Walk Tour

8:00 – Sky Trek: where you’ll whizz along 1.7 miles of cables slung between towering trees. To get to the zip line, you’ll ride the Sky Tram (included in the Sky Trek experience), which offers panoramic views of Monteverde hills and Nicoya gulf.
Sky Trek zip line is considered the safest in Costa Rica. Combination tours are available with Skywalk (Suspended Bridges/Hanging Bridges) and with Sky Trek (Zip lines) and Sky Tram (Cable Car). Note also that the zip lines and tram are complementary: you cannot do just the zip lines.

Sky Walk: This complex use trails, suspension bridges for a more tranquil introduction of the flora and fauna of the forest canopy, constructed within the cloud forest. It allows a vision of the forest from a different perspective which starts with a walk on the ground taking you up to explore the treetops, a hardly discovered habitat, called the “canopy” with a naturalist guide.

These bridges span canyons and drainages, and bring visitors face to face with the upper level of the forest canopy. There are five bridges in total, the longest of which spans around 984 feet. The trails extend for slightly over a mile and a half (2.5 km), making this tour extremely feasible for anyone in moderate shape. The climb is not strenuous or muddy, as the trails are well maintained and generally very flat. Local guides accompany each tour and help visitors learn about native plant and animal species.

Monteverde Clud Forest guided Tour

13:00 – The reserve now covers around 10,500 hectares. Elevation ranges from 600 meters above sea level to 1800 meters on isolated peaks. This reserve, under the administration of the Tropical Science Center, is known world wide for its biodiversity and is visited each year by many tourists and scientists.

Manuel Antonio area

8:00 – Ground transfer to Manuel Antonio area. Approximate driving time 4 and a half hour.

Catamaran Sunset Tour

13:30 – The afternoon tour is a truly amazing trip for nature lovers who will enjoy not only the experience itself but the breathtaking sunset of the Pacific Ocean. Humpback whales, and dolphins as well as other beautiful marine life can be witnessed on our catamaran tour. On board we offer an excellent variety of snacks and natural drinks. These can be enjoyed while navigating along the coast with the ocean breeze and the sun, helping you to enjoy this tropical paradise.

Day 9

Manuel Antonio National Park

7:30 – Watch sloths and numerous species of monkeys travel through the tree canopy, hunt for nocturnal silky anteaters and several types of monkeys or iguanas resting in the tropical rain forest, and listen to the songs of the various birds as they glide above your group, curiously looking for adventure. And if you are lucky, you might spot one of the only 1,000 remaining endangered Mono Titi or squirrel monkey, who live in only one location in the world, in our Manuel Antonio National Park biological corridor.

See how many different kinds of flora and fauna you can spot just in the span of a 2 ½ hour nature walk or hike. And at the end, enjoy some local fresh fruits and refreshments as you pause to savor your adventure thus far. If you so desire, hike additionally through the trails and enjoy unspoiled, un-crowded, pristine beaches after your guided educational adventure ends, and maybe even snorkel after the hike on your own.
